What is CoderDojo? A free, volunteer-led coding club for kids that allows students to explore computer science by playing games and completing activities that teach them the basics of coding. Curriculum is provided and covers everything from simple coding games with Frozen, Star Wars, and Angry Birds, to programming your own stories and games (want to check out some examples? Visit our Activity Resources page). Flexibility and the freedom to choose activities based on student and volunteer interest is a key component of the program.

Key Responsibilities: Plan and facilitate engaging activities for students using resources provided by TechPoint Foundation, attend scheduled CoderDojo sessions, and serve as a role model for students that attend the club.

Time Commitment: Varies based on location. Most frequently either one hour, once a week or two hours, once a month. Minimum commitment of one semester, or approximately 8-10 weeks.

Qualifications: Some college and clear background check. Knowledge of computer programming preferred for upper grade levels.

Support: TechPoint Foundation staff provide coordination of background checks, initial site introduction, activity resources, and facilitation of questions or concerns.

Contact: If you are interested in learning more, have questions, or are ready to volunteer, email us at Volunteer@TechPointYouth.org.
