Jake Skertic
City Program Coordinator
AmeriCorps VISTA Member

Born a buckeye in Cincinnati, Ohio, but raised a Hoosier in Carmel, Indiana, Jake was the first class in the freshman center at Carmel High School and, consequently, the first inhabitant of locker number 319 on the third floor. Jake played rugby all four years in high school and continued to play in college when he attended Ball State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from the Miller College of Business. He is very proud to be the fourth generation of his family to have graduated from Ball State and his great-great-grandfather, Everet, was friends with the Ball brothers well before they contributed to the school.

When he is not fighting poverty head on as an AmeriCorps VISTA member, he enjoys long drives in German cars, exploring the great outdoors, drinking good bourbon, and especially exotic german shepherds, which he raised as a child.
