FIRST Lego League (FLL) Volunteer Position Description

What is First Lego League?  A robotics program where students are immersed in real-world science and technology challenges. Volunteers help teams design their own solutions to a current scientific question or problem and build autonomous LEGO robots that perform a series of missions. Through their participation, children develop valuable life skills and discover exciting career possibilities while learning they can make a positive contribution to society.  Key Responsibilities: Plan high-impact, engaging activities for students using resources provided by TechPoint Foundation, implement plans and attend weekly FLL sessions, and serve as a role model for every student that attends the program

Time Commitment: One day per week for one hour, with a minimum of one semester. The schedule will follow the school district's break calendar, which will bring the total weeks volunteers will serve to about 10 weeks.

Age Requirement: High School Graduate

Qualifications: Some college, clear background check, and knowledge of engineering preferred for upper grade levels

Support: TechPoint Foundation will provide resources to volunteers to help plan activities, assistance in initial facilitation of program if requested, coordination of background checks, and continual help with any problems, concerns, or questions that arise through the duration of the program.

Other Responsibilities: Arrive on time for each session, with 24 hours notice to TechPoint Foundation if you are unable to make a session, communicate with TechPoint Foundation of any problems, concerns, or feedback with the program, submit weekly attendance sheets, maintain confidentiality of information shared by students unless the student's safety or well-being is at risk andthere is suspected child abuse /neglect.
