robotics Professional DEVELOPMENT
We will be hosting required 4-6 hour Professional Development training sessions for educators who are awarded the grant. In addition to providing educators with all of the skills needed to start a robotics team, we will also show you Project Lead The Way activities that you can integrate into your classroom and share with other teachers at your school. We want to make sure every educator is comfortable with the robotics kit, robotics team management, and competition.
These training sessions are one of the most important components of the grant. Exposing students to robotics in the classroom will reach a number of children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to be involved with an extracurricular robot team.
We just completed Professional Development for 185 AWESOME teachers this summer! We will be working on training our newly awarded teachers in late August and September. Dates will be published and teachers will be notified via email as soon as details are determined.
We hope to provide training for awarded teachers within a 60 mile radius of your school. Locations will be published and teachers will be notified via email as soon as details are determinded.
Awarded applicants will receive their VEX IQ robotics kits at the Professional Development training (that is how we will assure each teacher receives the proper training before getting their kit). During the Professional Development we will train each Robotics Educator on the following:
- how to use the VEX IQ robotics kit
- how competitive robotics and robot competitions work
- how to become a Robotics Coach
- how to integrate PLTW activities into your classroom
