VEX Robotics Volunteer Position Description

What is VEX Robotics?  A free project-based curriculum that teaches the engineering design process in a hands-on manner, helping volunteers challenge, motivate, and inspire students. Volunteers help a team of students who are challenged to raise funds, design a team brand, hone teamwork skills, and build and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks again a field of competitors.  Key Responsibilities: Implement VEX curriculum at each session, assist students with any questions or problems that arise, and serve as a role model for every student that attends the program.

Time Commitment: One day per week for one hour, with a minimum of one semester. The schedule will follow the school district's break calendar, which will bring the total weeks volunteers will serve to about 10 weeks.

Age Requirement: High School Graduate

Qualifications: Some college, clear background check, and engineering experience required.

Support: TechPoint Foundation will provide resources to volunteers to help plan activities, assistance in initial facilitation of program if requested, coordination of background checks, and continual help with any problems, concerns, or questions that arise through the duration of the program.

Other Responsibilities: Arrive on time for each session, with 24 hours notice to TechPoint Foundation if you are unable to make a session, communicate with TechPoint Foundation of any problems, concerns, or feedback with the program, submit weekly attendance sheets, maintain confidentiality of information shared by students unless the student's safety or well-being is at risk andthere is suspected child abuse /neglect.
