Volunteer Opportunities for
the 2025-2026 School Year
Each year, TechPoint Youth strives to bring both ongoing and one-time engagement opportunities to our volunteers. Browse our menu of options to find a brief description of each engagement type.
STEM Mentors (on-going)
A driving force behind our mission’s success is volunteerism from employees within STEM-focused companies who are willing to mentor young minds for the duration of an entire school year. We have both a during-school and after-school option to get involved with this program:
Classroom Support
During School
STEM Mentors have the option to work alongside a classroom teacher during the school day to support hands-on, minds-on curriculum and enrich the STEM learning environment for students. When you volunteer in a classroom, you get to make meaningful connections with students of all backgrounds while sharing your knowledge and expertise. This opportunity is a great fit for a team looking to regularly volunteer in their local community!
Typical Commitment
At least one hour per month
September to April
Between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
One to five volunteers per classroom
Robotics Team
After School
We have hundreds of robotics teams throughout the state seeking after-school support. Help give teachers/robotics coaches the confidence to tackle their students’ questions while impacting the lives of students interested in STEM at an early age by being a STEM Mentor for a local school’s robotics program.
Typical Commitment
At least one hour per month
September to April
Between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
One to five volunteers per classroom
Recruitment for STEM Mentors for the 25-26 School Year is currently closed. Check back in April 2026 to join next year’s cohort.
One-Time Events
If your schedule does not allow a year-round commitment, or you are interested in engaging more community members and volunteers from your organization with our mission, we also offer a variety of one-time events throughout the year. Here are several ways to get involved that only require a few hours of time:
Robot Events & Competitions
Throughout the year, schools host practice and qualifying robotics events in preparation for the State Championships in March. As you can imagine, giving students the opportunity to practice for the “big dance” in robotics is a great way to improve their robot skills and build confidence. These events are typically held on Saturdays, and volunteers are always needed to fill a variety of roles. ALL background and skill levels with robotics are welcome.
Typical Commitment
Two to eight hours per month
October to March
Times vary; typically Saturday mornings
Hour of Code
Each December, we celebrate Computer Science Education Week by providing schools in Indiana with the resources they need to complete an Hour of Code activity. We partner with local schools and STEM Professionals to volunteer in person and engage students in fun, game-like coding lessons. Check out more about Hour of Code HERE!
Typical Commitment
One to two hours
December: Computer Science Education Week
Between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
One to two volunteers per hour, per classroom

Indiana Robotics State Championship
Each March, TechPoint Youth hosts elementary, middle, and high school students for the Indiana Robotics State Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium. This past year, TPY volunteers supported over 1,600 students during the State Championship event, serving around 350 student teams from across all 92 counties of Indiana.
We have 400+ volunteer roles to fill each year to make the event happen. Interested in helping give Indiana robotics students an experience they will never forget? Check back in January when our signup goes live!
Typical Commitment
Two to six hours
March 14, 2026
7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
400+ roles available
